Farr Law Firm is pleased to announce that Jack O. Hackett II was elected Chair of Florida’s 20th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.  The term runs for one year until July 2012.  He previously served as the Commission’s Vice Chair.  The Twentieth Judicial Circuit, established in 1970, consists of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties.

Hackett is a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate attorney and concentrates his legal practice on real estate and business law.  He represents clients in transactions dealing with all areas of residential and commercial real estate acquisition and development and has represented clients in a number of high profile real estate transactions.  He also provides counsel to a wide range of businesses in the formation, organization, and management of business entities.

The Commission is a nine-member panel of both lawyers and non-lawyers responsible for locating, recruiting, investigating and evaluating applicants for judicial office.  They compile and submit a list of the most highly qualified applicants to the Governor, who makes the final selection from the list.
