Farr Law Firm has extensive experience in representing entities of local government. Historically, Earl D. Farr served as City Attorney for the City of Punta Gorda for many years.
We currently represent a number of local government entities. Darol Carr has served as general counsel to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office since 1993 serving 4 different Sheriffs. Mr. Carr also serves as general counsel to the Charlotte County Supervisor of Elections and litigation counsel to the East Charlotte Drainage District.
David Holmes has served as an associate general counsel to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office since 1993, represented the Sheriff’s Office in forfeiture matters for several years, and has served as general counsel to the Telegraph Cypress Water Control District for more than 10 years.
Will Sunter has served as forfeiture counsel for the Charlotte County sheriff’s office since 2006.
In 2006, the firm was instrumental in the state-local, public-private transaction that led to the purchase of Babcock Ranch. Approximately 75% of the ranch property became the state-owned Babcock Ranch Preserve. The transaction constituted the largest public acquisition of private lands in Florida history.
