Legal Assistant/Receptionist- Venice

Farr Law Firm is seeking a full-time receptionist/legal assistant in our Venice, Florida office. The candidate will be responsible for answering a multi-line phone, greeting clients, scheduling appointments, receiving client payments, copying and scanning documents, opening legal files, maintaining office supplies, witnessing document signings and assisting attorneys and paralegals as needed. Superior communication, both verbal and written, are a must as well as excellent typing and email skills, the ability to proofread and do word processing.

High school graduate or equivalent
Good typing and computer skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work quickly and effectively in a constantly active work area

Prior legal experience preferred.

Civil Litigation Attorney

Farr Law Firm is seeking a Business Transactions and Civil Litigation Associate to join our growing litigation practice in Punta Gorda, Florida. The Attorney will handle general business transactions and civil litigation matters while representing clients from small locally-owned businesses to large national corporations. Farr Law Firm’s multi-industry knowledge allows us to address a range of disputes relating to contracts such as business acquisitions, employment and non-compete agreements, licensing and distribution agreements, commercial and residential leases and other types of commercial agreements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Client Management – Communicate with clients to commence an engagement, to keep the matter moving forward on a timely basis, and to make certain that the firm’s efforts are in tune with the client’s needs;
  • Draft Documents;
  • Revenue Growth and Billable Time – Develop a client following to increase the firm’s revenues and keep track of and post all billable and non-billable work;

Candidate Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • One to three years’ experience (need not be in same practice area)
  • Excellent communications skills – both oral and written;
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills;
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills;
  • Highly organized, acute attention to detail, and ability to operate with an action orientation in a high pressure, fast-paced environment;
  • Sense of urgency, hunger, and drive/commitment;
  • Ability to anticipate client needs/forward-thinking and solutions-oriented approach at all times;
  • Strong MS office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills.
