Mr. Gaylor received his B.A. from Asbury College in 1986, his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at the American University in 1989, and his LL.M. (Master of Laws in Estate Planning) from the University of Miami Law School in 1990.
He is a member of the Florida and Sarasota County Bar Associations, and is a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of both bar associations, and was Past Chair of the local bar section. In 2010 he was elected to the board of the Sarasota County Bar Association and currently served as President in 2018. He is also a member of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council.
Community Involvement.
From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Gaylor was chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc., and until recently Muirhead, Gaylor, Steves & Waskom, P.A. served as general council to the Foundation. He joined the New College Library Association Board in 1998 and was elected President for two terms in 2000. In 2003 he was elected to the board of the New College Foundation and served until 2014.
He served on the board of SCOPE (Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence) from 2002-2006. In 1999 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Council of Foundations headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and served as chair from 2005-2007.
Additionally, he has served on the boards of the Sarasota County Arts Council; American Cancer Society (Venice Chapter); the Laurel Civic Association and Community Aids Network. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Manatee Community College.
Mr. Gaylor is a former partner in the law firm of Muirhead, Gaylor, Steves & Waskom, P.A., with offices in Venice and Sarasota, Florida. He is a native of Sarasota County and in his spare time enjoys traveling, boating, fishing, scuba diving, and tennis.
