Ian MacLean is an attorney in the Venice office of Farr Law, where his practice focuses on estate planning, trust and probate administration, and elder law. Raised in Englewood and Venice, Ian is proud to serve the community where his passion for the law first began.
Ian’s first experience in the legal profession came during the summer of his junior year at Stetson University, when he joined Stickley Law as an intern. That experience sparked his interest in estate planning and elder law, shaping his decision to pursue a career devoted to helping individuals and families plan for the future and protect what matters most.
After graduating from Venice High School, Ian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stetson University. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, graduating with a Certificate of Concentration in Elder Law. During law school, Ian gained diverse experience through internships with Stickley Law, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Initiative, and the Senior Advocacy Unit of a nonprofit law firm in Tampa. He also worked as a law clerk for an estate planning firm in Clearwater, where he co-authored and contributed to several tax and estate planning publications featured in Bloomberg Tax, Forbes, and Leimberg Information Services, and co-authored a book on the Employee Retention Tax Credit. After graduating from law school, Ian returned to Englewood and rejoined Stickley Law as an associate attorney.
When Ian’s not advocating for the elderly or assisting families with their estate plans, you can find him out on the water enjoying the sunshine. Ian truly embodies the laid-back spirit of Southwest Florida and is happy to bring that same approachable, down-to-earth attitude to his work with clients.
