PUNTA GORDA – May 28, 2013 – The Farr Law Firm donated $5,000 to a feasibility study evaluating the possible economic impacts of building a signature facility in the downtown center of Punta Gorda. The project is gaining momentum thanks to the support of local business partners and organizations.

The money donated will be applied to costs associated with conducting the study on the feasibility of a signature premier facility in Punta Gorda. The Charlotte Harbor Aquarium Committee is coordinating the feasibility study.

The study will examine all possible pathways to boost the local economy through the expansion of the arts and culture, education, tourism, boating as well as retail and service businesses. The objective is to strengthen the downtown region, ideally placing an aquarium or other educational and entertainment attraction, at the center of city commerce.

The Farr Law Firm is one of the first businesses to sponsor the study. The donation, spearheaded by attorney Darol H. M. Carr, is just one of the ways the firm is acting to advance the best interests of Charlotte County. “The feasibility study is the first step in the process to enhance Punta Gorda’s draw to visitors and tourists. We are committed to this opportunity to boost the local economy“, Carr stated.

Attorney Carr is the Farr Law Firm’s representative on the Charlotte County Economic Development Council and an ad hoc member of the aquarium committee. The Farr Law Firm, established in 1924, is the oldest and largest law firm in Charlotte County and has been an integral part of the development of the City of Punta Gorda.
